双语：成为名侦探的英语必备词汇

　　1. proof (n.) 证明，证据

　　Eg：I have a suspicion that he's having an affair, though I don't have any concrete proof.

　　我怀疑他有婚外情，不过我没有确凿的证据。

　　prove (v.) 证明，显示

　　The rumour proved to be false. 这个谣言传到最终是假的。

　　2.evidence (n.) 证据，证明，迹象

　　evident (adj.) 明显的，明白的

　　Eg：Several experts are to give evidence on the subject.

　　数位专家将就这个问题给出证据。

　　3.witness (v.) 目击，证明

　　n.目击者，证据

　　Eg：India has witnessed many political changes in recent years.

　　印度近些年见证了许多政治变革。

　　4.testify (v.) 证明，证实

　　Eg：Several eyewitnesses testified that they saw the officers hit Miller in the face.

　　几个目击者证明他们看到那些警察们打了米勒的脸。

　　5. testimony (n.) 证词，证据

　　Eg：His testimony was an important element of the prosecution's case.

　　他的证词是本起公诉案中的一个重要因素。

　　6.certify (v.) 证明，保证

　　Eg：The driver was certified (as) dead on arrival at the hospital.

　　刚送到医院，司机就被证实已经死亡。

　　certificate （n.) 证书，执照

　　birth certificates 出生证明

　　7. ascertain (vt.) 确定，查明

　　Eg：The police have so far been unable to ascertain the cause of the explosion. 警方到目前为止尚未查明爆炸原因。

　　8. verify (vt.) 核实，查证

　　Eg：I looked up the word in a dictionary to verify its spelling. 为了查证这个词的拼写方法，我从词典中查了一下这个词。
